I'm Jay, a freshman at UC Berkeley studying computer science, and I'm building Miran AI—an AI-powered career coach that helps students figure out what they actually want to do with their lives. The idea came from watching friends struggle with the same question I had: how do you know what career path is right for you when you're still figuring yourself out?
My path into tech started in healthcare. I got curious about how we could use AI and quantum computing to solve problems in cancer research, which led me to work on projects at Brown, Texas Medical Center, and City of Hope. What I learned there wasn't just about the technology—it was about building things that actually matter to people.
Now I'm trying to bring that same mindset to career guidance. Instead of generic advice, what if students could have real conversations with AI that help them understand their own interests and values? That's what I'm working on at Miran, and honestly, it's been the most challenging and rewarding thing I've done so far.
